Operating under the umbrella of the Baldwin Wallace University Public Health program, the Center for Health Disparities Research and Education works with students, faculty and organizations in the community to conduct research and education on health disparities in greater Cleveland and across the world.
The Center has completed grant-funded projects supported by UCLA and CCBH and provided services to SAGE Cleveland, Cuyahoga County Board of Health, and the LGBT Center of Cleveland.
Current research focuses on individual and environmental factors related to HIV health disparity in the United States and in India. Dr. Swagata Banik is the principle investigator on a National Institute of Health (NIH)-funded research grant on "IV Stigma Reduction among Healthcare Providers."
